If EU plates come around in Serbia it's possible the government will require us to change all plates even though if it's the same standard.

When EU plates were introduced a lot of news sources falsely claimed we would need to change plates again (after we already changed all pre-1999 plates without the blue stripe for new ones in 2006), pretty much only to stur up clicks on their articles. People were so paranoid that EU stars stickers were sold in gas stations and people put them on their Bulgarian flag plates to avoid changing them. The change never happened, nor has it ever happened in other EU countries. If the Serbian government tries to do it in Serbia it would be wrong.

Besides, the way Serbian plates are designed it would be very easy to simply apply a EU stars sticker in the blue stripe area, if that were ever a requirement, although it shouldn't be.

I know right? A role model for this should be, to similar extent, Polish and Lithuanian plates as well.

Old plates, having something instead of the stars, go on to remain valid even if the new plates with the EU stars began with issuance.

Presence of blue strip is not required even for countries having official status of candidate for joining EU. Estonia, Latvia, Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia did not introduce blue strips before joining EU; they introduced eurobands after joining.

Without any politics, the EU will break up earlier than Serbia could join it (same applies to Moldova, Ukraine, other ex-Yu countries).

Native Hungarian, almost native Russian. I speak some Ukrainian also, and Serbian (which means in one hand Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin).

In 2015, I spent a half year in Lithuania, I learned the language on an everyday level, but now I forgot it and I know just a lot of random words and expressions.

Ah, and I speak also English as well. =)
But I don't like English so much, my heart is Eastern-European :D

Knowing 3 (or 7) Slavic languages, I can understand a lot from the other Slavic ones. :)
