Plate Addiction It's not a Japanese import because a plate that has a size of 520 x 110 mm (20,4 x 4,3 inch) (like this one: ) can fit perfectly in the car, because it's not RHD (cars in Japan are RHD) and because Japanese plates have a size of 330 x 165 mm (like this one: ) and it can't fit perfectly in the car. Anyways, great spot!
It would be an European import because plates like this one below: can fit perfectly in the car. And I don't know what happened with the links in the other comment, probably something weird in there

Japanese Clios can be bought in LHD, and there are several. They are imported as is from Europe to Japan, thus the Euro size plate holder in the boot/trunk.

gregolux86 Actually, LHD cars are really popular in J, especially with German brands!
Yes! Japan is probably the only country where you can choose the side of the wheel on some cars when buying them new there. The LHD cars there are not imports, they are locally sold. The Japanese find it cool to have the cars with LHD as that is what the cars originally have in their home countries such as Germany, USA etc.

Actually, as per EU law, you can walk in to any dealership in the EU and ask them for a RHD Irish spec car and they have to sell you it. It might take a lot of convincing tho
