Ontario, Trailers (A12-34X)

This setup is so illegal in the UK..! I saw this on my way home from work one evening before I was plate spotting with my camera, but I was just so shocked to see it being used on the road here I had to stop and take photos!

What makes this illegal besides not having a trailer plate?

It meant to have a repeater plate of the van on the trailer.

So, first as VehicleSpotter said, a trailer should have a repeater plate fitted of the towing vehicle. It's also illegal to operate a foreign registered vehicle as a British citizen in the UK with a very few exceptions - this law is lapsed for trailers providing the trailer meets British road laws - but this trailer has only red turn signals which are forbidden on any vehicle newer than 1965, even imports. As Canadian registered the red turn signals are allowed but I believe only if operated by a Canadian vehicle. This is also a problem for British trucks towing European trailers - officially they do not meet British standards if there is only 1 fog light on the left side, but it is overlooked and it is common to see foreign freight trailers with British repeater plates.

However dodgy the setup is, it was really cool to see and I never saw it again - I'm just curious who pays to bring a trailer like that half way around the world!

Lol this is wild, I would never have imagined seeing something like this. Especially seeing as it looks to be an actual work trailer.

It's not a overland car, it's not a show car, it's not a launch vehicle - it's just a trailer being used by a gardening company some 5000km away on a different continent :D
