This is true, but not a common scene. There is a Facebook group dedicated to foreign-market vehicles (and plates) in the USA, but it is not that frequent. I think there are more American plates in Bar MNE, than there are any foreign plates in the US :D I personally, have only seen a handful of real foreign-registered cars in the US, in years of searching.
