Mitsubishi Space Star

2nd gen (A0), 1st facelift, 2016–2020

German license plate, Regular plates

My first plate from the
Segeberg District on the site!

I can't believe someone would drive
such an awful car all the way from
the North of Germany to the
South of Portugal! :P

Spotted in Lagos,
Algarve, Portugal (9/2024)

Is it really that bad? I haven't sat in it yet, but I love the looks of it and I've been itching to book a test ride (but haven't got around to it yet because I don't like talking to people outside of work).

I haven't experienced one personally, I just know there's so much lore behind this car because of its lack of equipment, slow speed, etc. from a car enthusiast perspective. It might be alright, but I'd prefer not to find out tbh! :D

What fascinates me about this car that everyone in the world knows what it is. I think you can say this about very few cars. You could drive one from your home on every continent and nobody would turn their head (unless they noticed the license plate. Tough to spot German or Czech plate in South Africa :D )

And they make them in a pretty yellow-gold colour, which I love.

I did over 3000 km in the US version of it, the Mirage, it’s really ok to drive :D

I swear I'm gonna book a test ride one of these days, I swear. It can't be as bad as Doug Demuro makes it out to be. I mean, Škoda Citigos Are a popular car (for food delivery, anyway) and they have even smaller, less powerful engine. Though the interior does look nicer.

True, I liked the Citigo/Up/Mii. They were nice cars

Yup, I did Moncton, NB to Atlantic City, NJ way and back with it, fun but yeah wasn’t very fast and made a bit too much noise !;)

Alright, I just got a test ride in one. Really pleasantly surprised me how cromulent it was. Granted, it was a CVT, they didn't have a manual to test (I think they did last year), but still a perfectly good car. Pretty much a 90's car, built in 2024. And the last new car available without all the annoying "safety" features, such as lane keep, automatic braking, speed sign recognition, drowsiness monitoring, etc.

The salesman told me it's pretty much a problem-less car, owners only come in for oil changes. I'm actually questioning myself if I should just buy it, the yellow is such a pretty color, the last annoyance-free car, but I do have a car already that I like and it doesn't make sense for me to have two cars. I really don't know, this might just be the last chance to get one, the EU regulations won't let them sell it any much longer and it wouldn't be worth it for Mitsubishi to update it to meet them.
