I had reliable information from the Nantes city bus memory association (see photo in comments) : it is indeed a Heuliez GX 44 transformed in 1987 (formerly Mercedes O305 transformed by Heuliez -> Heuliez O305). The plate is well that of the original bus (1975).

This is the 3rd Heuliez GX 44 bus on Platesmania and the first in France !
