You are right about that, but it's a just a completely different name for the same model in a separate market due to a pretty obvious reason I think. Also it's named due to the mountain range of Sierra de Gredos in the Iberian Peninsula. Here you can see even a TV commercial from 1987, which mentions it as Gredos especially:
