Yes. BYD launched EV models in JDM, although I'm not sure how popular they'd be against Nissan or Tesla...

The bumper looks terrible, obviously designed only with Chinese license plates in mind. :-/

Actually, not really recently, Hongqi beats them out first with the H9 luxury sedan. BYD, as a brand itself, already existed in Japan earlier with their electric buses since 2019.

A BYD bus operated for the city of Kyoto was already spotted and posted here in PM.

Considering last year, they've surpassed Tesla in global sales race, while receiving a lot of Atto 3 orders with 1,000 in Malaysia in just 10 days after launch, over 4,000 in Australia (some are likely canceled), and over 10,000 in Thailand in just one month after launch, including this year's 2,000+ bookings in India with 700 cars delivered in just two months, I bet versions sold in Japan may likely perform the same effect as those aforementioned countries, despite Japan's automotive industry's slow transition to EVs.

We're probably more likely to see more Teslas and EVs of Japanese brands (not just Nissan) here just by how averse we tend to be with Chinese brands of any sort, except Lenovo and Mihoyo/Yostar.
