I use a phone, more precisely iPhone 14 Pro with camera set to automatic settings and sometimes I use color retouch when editing photos. However, even though it is good for taking photos of parked cars, it doesn't work well with objects in motion when there is too much sunlight. So I have been thinking about getting a proper camera for some time now. Why are you asking?
I'm considering about upgrading quality of my photos while also being able to take photos of moving cars from a distance like here. Ideally with a phone, not camera.

In that case, my personal opinion is that a phone will suit you just fine. I don't have any experience with other phone brands, but I can say that iPhone camera quality is really extraordinary. I took these pictures when those cars were moving at 90-100 km/h, so the conditions were not ideal, but if you plan on photographing moving cars mainly in the city (around 50 km/h) and it's sunny outside, a phone is just fine . Only one thing I am frustrated about is that quality of my pictures is a bit worse after being uploaded to the site than it is in my computer. But anyways, I hope I have helped!
