License plates of Poland, Regular car plates

Krakow, Poland

To clarify as this photo tends to gain lot of attention.
This kind of plate is illegal, it is custom made to fit US-sized plate mounting spaces.
It is similiar in shape, to two-row officialy issued plate.
Altough!
Cracow always issues plates in series, and with KR 1A111 signs order, only plates with "T" as letter (second sign) were issued as square plates.
With this being clarified, ORIGINALLY this plate (as it got "S") was one-row plate and that's why it is marked as one-row plate.
Please, don't report this photo again, as 5 times is already 5 times too much.

non-standard plate

US-Spec?

Yep, imported from US, big plus for owner for custom US-style plate instead of big and ugly "square" official one ;)

It's illegal, cause it hasn't got legalization sticker. Law specifies that legal plate should have this sticker and sticker is issued only in communication department, which issues only two types of plate - standard one and two-row "square" ones.
So basically every plate which is different from this two official, are illegal, policeman can oblige owner to change plate immediately or take Your's car papers. There were also situations that owners were accused for forgery when they get imitations of legalization sticker on their's fake plates :D polish law is stupid sometimes :p

Same issue in Bulgaria, but people usually get around it by cutting or bending the plates. :pardon:

There is Nissan Skyline R32 in Warsaw with standard one-row plate, cut in half and pinned as two-row plate, it isn't look that bad... !;)
But I prefer those custom plates, like one on Fiat 500, but with standard, polish letters, not german ones (custom plates, also in standard size, with german-type letters are really common in Poland :/ )

Also, there are some leaks, that government is thinking about official US-style plates for our cars =)
