So, nothing surprising why Petroșani is outdated and some 80s-90s vibes are still visible today, also the population experienced massive growth only in the 20th century during the communist period, as many workers were brought in from other regions of Romania and the main activity there it was mining. But after 1989 many mines were closed, and the city just like the whole area was forced to diversify the economy, also the investment of other companies it was low, and due to few new jobs this has also led to a significant population decline since 1990s onwards, also Petroșani is one of the Romanian cities with most population loss, because many people left this city looking for a better life and most moved to the bigger cities such as Timișoara, Cluj or Bucharest.
