License plate of Saudi Arabia, Cars

I'm going to take a hiatus now, i might potentially (but unlikely) even quit uploading on the site permanently due to a variety of reasons.

1. Lost of interest in car spotting, not stimulating enough anymore.

2. It's fairly time consuming to upload photos after photos. Time that could've been spent otherwise.

3. General lack of support and interest i gather. Because this site's community is Euro-centric, spots of cars with Gulf plates are always going to gather more interest in Europe than in it's home region. This is understandable and it's largely my fault but it's also annoying when your spots gets ignored because someone else saw a Range Rover with Saudi plates in London.

4. As a result of the Euro-centric community, Bahraini, Qatari and Saudi galleries are very much dead. No active user on PM happens to be from there aside from me. Not to sound like i'm bragging but it feels like i'm single-handedly keeping them alive. It's even worse on the Bahraini side because sightings of such plates are much rarer outside of the region. This alongside the 3rd point just makes me feel like i'm talking to a brick wall in the middle of the empty quarter. UAE doesn't suffer from this issue, mainly because of it's Eastern-European population.

5. Local culture issues: People in the GCC are generally more private-orientated, culturally. This means that car spotting would potentially cause awkward issues with car owners. I already had two car owners find out about my PM uploads, but while they were fine with it, others would likely demand me to take them down. Tihs happened with me countless times on Instagram before and is one of the main reasons why i've been mainly focusing on car meets over the last few years.

Not to sound corny but i thought i would end this talk on a more positive note. I mainly joined the site because i'm into cars, liked spotting and started getting into plates but also because i wanted to show the cars in the region from a different perspective. A perspective that's far more relatable, down to earth (ironic given the McLaren in this post) and often over-shadowed in favour of the usual "arab supercars in Dubai/Paris" trope that it ultimately made me lose interest in modern supercars itself. Sure, a 1990 Toyota Cressida for most people is as exciting as a dry wall-coloured 90's microwave but to me, it represents 80's-00s era Gulf in a way that Future Boy Conan, bootleg PlayStation games and Majid Magazine does. It's a reminder of a different time; be it politically, culturally or economically, for the better or worse. Now whatever i successfully did that or not is irrelevant, as i ultimately enjoyed my time being here regardless. I would probably still stick around and in few weeks, even continue uploading some of the more interesting cars i personally find.

Until then, كل عام و انتوا بخير

its really sad how overlooked your content is. enjoyed seeing your photos, especially 90's middle-east spec models. Checked your insta, seems inactive, will you further post photos on other media?

I daresay, Mr Bahraini Carguy, that cars from the Gulf countries are pretty popular on the site. All kinds of: mega-expensive, old beaten trucks, usual cars.

I feel you and it's really sad to see you go cause your photos were always lovely, especially the ones that you described as " as exciting as a dry wall-coloured 90's microwave" because quite frankly that's my taste in cars too! Take care, hope you'll change your mind and come back one day, sending lots of love!

Understandable decision, sad to see you go because you always posted something cool and interesting, not even mentioning that you have expanded the Bahraini and Saudi Arabian gallery in a very big measure :bad: . I’m also looking forward for you to come back to the site, take care! :)

Just to be clear everyone, i probably won't be leaving the site. I'm just feeling quite burned out at the moment so i thought i would take a break and explain my reasoning. As i mentioned, i just don't find my current activity to be stimulating anymore. I listed my reasons above but i think that my current health condition is actually playing a part.

@Mikrovolnovka1
I'm not really active on Instagram right now outside of using it to talk with friends privately. Maybe i would started getting more active there at some point.
@Неюный номерник & @Cars and Cameras
Maybe both of you are correct, I'm not sure how could i answer this.
@nywi3
I'll probably come back in few weeks or months, i suppose. =)
@opelcorsa
Thanks. I don't think my spots are great but everyone have their opinion.

Like i said, thanks for the support.

It's really sad to hear that, I hope you can feel better soon and come back, your gallery is one of most interesting on PM in my opinion, I will also stop posting daily from the next week even if I will keep posting on week-ends for similar reasons, see you soon!

It's okay to take a break! We will be here when you feel ready to be back. In the meantime it's fine to take a hiatus and upload only when you really feel like you want to. =)

And please, more "1990 Cressida" type spots. :D

I get you, because I was hit a bit by a severe hobby crisis a few months ago, notably with the increasing anti-car material and opinions that popped up on my social media, news, Youtube videos etc

This made me lose the usual excitment that I've ever had for car/plate spotting, but given it has been a huge part in my life, I keep coming back to it inevitably. Honestly, 0 pressure mate! I at least really enjoy your content and I wish we had more Gulf-based spotters like you.

Take care!

Brother, i understand how it feels for you, cus i kinda relate. Especially with the second point, its such a tedious task to upload pics not only on PM but on other sites i share pics, and it sucks cus i take these pics not just for myself but to share with others too. The other thing which many others probably relate to is the fact that despite the fact that i try to upload at least mildly interesting spots, they get overlooked by floods of (at least what i call) generic cars with nothing interesting going on with them. Thats why i always uploaded infrequently to this site. I still take pics of cars since its what i like, but its hard to get motivated to put them here when you could put them on flickr instead (sadly they also have that 1000 photo limit for a while now). So i guess thats point number 4 but viewed from an Eastern European perspective.

Hopefully things will get at least marginally better so people will find more enjoyment to interact with this site again. And if theres something more personal that you wanna tell me you're more than welcome to DM me anytime, though i'm usually logged off so it'll be a while till i get to see it.

Oh dear, I completely understand you! I have exactly the same thoughts about the gallery of the Armenia, where exactly the same photos of Armenian cars taken in Russia get much more likes than from Armenia.
Hope you can satisfy your car lust one way or another! Good luck anyway!

Коллеги, которые спорили со мной 2 года назад под фото с застрявшим в топе из-за технических работ ГАЗиком - что скажите? Лайки и отклик аудитории важны, как оказалось!
