he may have bought a more modern car, or couldn't afford to run it
it is a fairly common practice here in Bratislava - don't need your car? just leave it on the street...

I'm curious, how did the Logan become your favourite? Unfortunately I believe we'll see a lot of them abandoned, since most people think very low about them...

Well, it's hard to tell how the Logan became my favourite car, but I like it mostly because it's the favourite car of every average Romanian person, alongside the Passat and the Golf 4. That's my opinion though.
I personally like the facelifted version of the second generation, made between 2016 and 2020, when the 3rd generation was launched. I'm still planning to buy one as my third personal car, after having two other cars: a 2002 Seat Ibiza (owned from 2017 to November 2020), and a 2018 Seat León (owned from November 2020 to present).

Somehow in Romania they do the same thing: when someone is fed up with his old car, he leaves it on the street, and that's all.

if the car gets towed and then recycled, I'm fine with that (I understand, that it's cheaper to abandon it, than to recycle it legally)
but there are some streets/areas that have literally turned into a public junkyard
city organizations or police do almost nothing about it, thus even junks from other districts often end there (Sumracna street is a glaring example)
some wrecks are even inhabited by homeless people... ?() (they are in much worse shape, though)

So, I guess it's the same reason why I (and many others) like the Suzuki Swift, Hungary's favourite people's car :D The Logan is less popular here, only the Duster+Dokker brought the success of Dacia (and the Lodgy since the introduction of 7-seater car subsidy)
I checked out your Leon, it's very nice! Which engine does it have? My friend (former landlord in Sweden) has a grey 1.2 TSI (2017 model, bought new). Drove it a few times, it was very sporty, but a little difficult to manouevre =) For me a Logan would feel like a step back after it, but it might be a good idea to keep them both, if you can afford it.

Budapest also has many abandoned cars just left there... Some are actually completely fine, they just have an old owner who stopped driving but doesn't want to sell it. Most of them are towed in a few months or a year, but we also have some streets filled with wrecks (of course if they get removed, other junk will take their place)

I really want a Hungarian made Subaru Justy. Permanent four wheel drive in a that small car sounds really fun!
 :D
