Usually Thai vehicles replace the plates with Western characters when travelling abroad so it is very unlikely to find one in Europe registered with the original plate It's just a "non-standard" UK plate, if you run the number in the DVLA database it checks out. These are the NZ plates I have in my own collection, for reference to see the different letter/number formats: TJ1089 - previous format AUG620 - current format, old font DUE306 - new font 5400X - dealer/garage plate from 1996 ATOMS - vanity plate (from a 1991 Ford Mondeo, used to advertise his company)

Ah yes. I see now. It was released in 1993... Well the owner was very sick when we talked, he didn't expect to live much longer, so I guess he made a mistake on the year, or maybe he said "around 1991" and I just saved "1991", I don't remember now... But he was specific about the car...
