Panu kierowcy bardzo nie spodobał się fakt, że zrobiłem zdjęcie, więc postanowił mnie obtrąbić. Pozdrawiam serdecznie :)

The driver...beat you up?

Yikes! This is why I prefer to only take photos of private cars from positions where I can quickly vanish and drivers can't easily stop (bridges, motorways etc.)

Many years ago, one middle-eastern gang type threatened to shoot me for taking a photo of a bus where his car was partially seen behind the bus. Another similar type slammed the brakes and followed me into a Lidl shop, demanding that I deleted a photo of his old Corolla.

Why people are so aggressive? I get it that it may feel like an invasion of privacy when some random guy takes a photo of your car but beating up somebody because of it is simply too much. Maybe the owner had something to hide?

And this is what gives them the right to think that they are better than others. He has a cool car and cool plates :D

In many cases I think it's a result of the modern trends of feeling violated by absolutely everything and at the same time entitled to everything. Often this leads to conflict, because the 2 trends are contradictory. Also people in general are increasingly confrontational, vengeful, distrusting and unwilling to compromise... oh, and many are more or less constantly high on various drugs and steroids, both factors known to contribute to aggressive behaviour.

That is exactly the reason I avoid to take pictures of cars in front when I'm by foot. I always take pics of the back of a car.

It did the same to me, so I can relate to your comment. Translate always spouts nonsense no matter which language you are translating

I've gotten some odd looks from people before while doing this hobby. In fact, just recently, the owner of a Volkswagen Jetta SportWagon saw me take photo of her car, and she just gave me an odd look. I wish people would be more receptive toward us and our hobby. After all, we usually photograph their cars simply because like them and they are interesting to us.

Yeah same thing happened to me last summer when I was on highway. Driver with German license plates thought I was taking pictures of his car and rapidly braked and stopped his car. I went running to the my friends house which is nearby. After that I still haven't went on to Highway spotting. But luckily I meet and saw some very friendly drivers that were happy I spotted their car.
  !;)

Thankfully the same for me, i’ve had some odd and slightly uncomfortable interactions, but lots of people I get the chance to talk to about their cars or plates are very friendly! Lots of truck drivers honk their horns and give me a thumbs up, and most owners are very understanding and are more than happy to show and tell me about the car :)

Luckily, it was only an odd look she gave me, but I hope for myself (and everyone else, of course) that we don't get into any danger while doing this hobby. Smart move going to a friend's house! I do my highway spotting in a car, since I don't really know of a good way to stand around and get highway pictures. Glad that some people are friendly towards you when you spot their cars, though! I wish I could get a reaction like that myself!

I like hearing about people being friendly towards others when you spot their cars! I've been able to talk to a couple of owners at car shows, but that's about it!
