Indeed, the BLS is possibly something like 80% the same as my Saab 9-3. It was even built in Trollhättan along with the other Saab models. This example has the same engine as my own car too, the 1.9 16v 150hp GM/Fiat unit. I also looked at getting a BLS which was for sale nearby, though the one i saw was in poor condition with very high mileage.
