Prius badge on the left = Japanese-market model :D

For some reason, Toyotas in Japan never seem to have 'Toyota' actually writen on the rear of the car, just the Toyota logo. That's how I usually tell the difference between a JDM Prius and a UK/EU-spec one (that and other obvious things like Shaken stickers, Export vignettes and externally-mounted fog lamps).

Thank you very much! That's a nice little bit of information that I hadn't noticed. Very useful in fact, as it will save me quite a bit of time from looking on import websites when there's no stickers... :D

I was thinking about buying one of these JP-Spec Priuses as I do quite a bit of city driving and they usually come with much higher spec interiors than UK versions (+ the fact I'm an oddball that really likes them). !;) However, I'm insured on my dad's car so I might as well save myself the money and use that.

No worries, any clue that helps to determine the origins of a car is super helpful I find. To be fair, you can also try memorise different registration combinations, as some are often reserved for imported vehicles. In this case, RX64JUA-JUZ is mostly assigned to imported Prius models, imported in January 2020. But this seems less practical :D

I'm still not a fan of these to be honest, though I've been in a few now (mostly taxis), and they seem more than capable for the job. I can imagine the higher-spec Japanese-market models are more popular for minicabbers. Bet insurance isn't bad on these either. What car does your dad have? :)

Aha yeah that might take me a while, but it's still a good idea!

My dad's got a car known as Sabine, who is a Sportwagon sister to the Viking :D
