Yeah I noticed that too, I guess the plate is now on a Rolls-Royce Wraith having just checked it, so perhaps the plate was sold on?
My dad wanted to buy a MG F sports car https://platesmania.com/uk/nomer17642736, he found one on Gumtree from a guy in Stourport (town near me), we went down there and I bought a few plates down (I bring some to show people if they're interested) the Mg was in the driveway and an elderly man came out, he was the owner. After showing him around the car me and my dad went out for a test drive in it. My mom stayed behind to talk to the owner and noticed my moms personalised registration plates. She told him about her car and that I collected them. The owner was surprised about this and he told her he too collected plates and said there were a few in his garage from his past cars, including spares for his current cars (A Mitsubishi ASX and a Mirage), a plate from an old Morris Minor police car, and AB 1. I showed him my plates and he shown his to me. The Morris Minor was in his garage which he is also selling. I shown him photos of my shed which is where I keep my plates. since he was very interested about them and he told me I have a lot of plates. He gave a few to me, the MSU plates, the plate from the Morris (EBW669A), and AB 1, all of which are uploaded on the site.
Here's a little backstory,
The AB1 plate was the first number plate issued to Worcestershire in 1903 and was used on the police constables cars up until 2011 due to safety concerns associated with having such an easily identifiable number plate, and with no prospect of it ever being used again the number plate was put under the hammer in 2017. There was controversy about the sale after the auction ignored a higher offer made days before the number was withdrawn from sale. West Mercia Police criticised the Commissioner for failing to achieve the best value for AB1 after it was sold to former Chief Constable Paul West for 160,000. The higher offer was 305,000 and was made by a Worcestershire resident after seeing it advertised in the Daily Telegraph.
Paul said he will keep it in Worcestershire and will use it on his car until he dies, then the number will be passed down to his next of kin.
Turns out, after a bit of research, Paul West was the man who sold my dad the car! He owns the Rolls!

It's not often I get given plates especially when you go out and buy a car, especially with such an interesting history like this. Sorry I have habit of writing quite a lot when I get going xD
