Some years ago the UK Government was cracking down on Arabic plated cars, forcing them to pay import duty and run UK style plates, so a few of them started to put their cars on Diplomatic plates Of course the system didn't work so it was stopped and now you can see Arabic plates in London again - but for the cars that ended up on UK Diplomatic plates, many of them remained... I have photos of a Maybach on UAE diplomatic embassy plates here, but in my photo archive I also have it on the old UAE plates (Sharjah from memory) when it used to be around London before they changed the plates..!!

Wow! That's incredible! I will be going to London in June, so I must keep an eye out whilst I'm there, especially near any embassies!
This one is still around, it's the one I mentioned above, you might get to spot it and upload the rear before I find my rear photo https://platesmania.com/uk/nomer16397327
There's always something new to find in London but these more exotic cars on Diplomatic plates are dwindling as when they are sold or exported, the replacements are back on Middle Eastern plates now due to the relaxed rules again!

Very nice! I had absolutely no idea about any of that! Really fascinating stuff!
