BMW 8 Series

2nd gen Gran Coupé (G16), 2018–

License plate of the United Kingdom, 2001 year system

London, United Kingdom

On the 9th of January 2024, after knowing PlatesMania for a couple of years, I made the decision to join the community.

At the moment of writing it has now been a year since I joined, uploading PJ57WGA, a black BMW 5-series that drove onto the pavement to clear way for the ambulance coming from the local hospital, on my way back from school. A few hours later I received a welcome comment by two members. (thanks!)

One month after that first upload, I visited Tiranë, Vlorë and Shkodër in Albania, getting 11 different countries on my profile, including crazy spots of Ontario and Philadelphia in Vlorë! In April I visited Italy, Romania and the UAE on an surprise trip planned by my parents. In summer 2024 I visited Paris with my parents and we stayed at a cousin‘s house for most of the one-week tour. In October, me, my family and friends toured Sweden and Norway with an ID.4 Volkswagen for the last trip of the year.

So, because I started with a BMW, I thought it would be nice to start the next year with a BMW as well. And this spot has a story.
A few days ago, me and my family visited Central London, leaving our T-Roc in East London. We decided to take a bus. At the bus stop, this orange 8-series passes me, then it stops at the signals. I, realising the plate read ‘NU TOY BM’, took a photo from the rear. I moved to the front, and the driver presses the horn. The driver lowers the window and asks “Why you take photo of car?” with a bad look, in broken English. Me and my father explain that I car spot. He says “OK” rudely and I retreat to the front to get a photo, but my father advises not to, which was just as well, I'd have given him a well-deserved punch if he yapped again.

Thanks for everything, PlatesMania!

Happy 2 year anniversary! Sorry to hear that happened to you, things like this can often happen when spotting but I'm glad he understood. However, I wish you a successful and prosperous future to spotting and travelling!

I always take photos from the rear and sometimes shy to take a photo from the front when the car's driver is present. I haven't come across a person like this (yet) lol. Great having you here!
