Cuz they're nuts lol
I read something somewhere that made me believe that they were not happy about how easy it was to predict the next available number. Basically what everyone around the world likes to do here ! :jokingly:

They have an algorithm calculator on the website also !

Look at the top 2, Did they just eliminate the space ? Probably cuz they're insane ! Could be a clerical error too, but I can see it both ways...

I think they derived this "method" [of madness] from their Old Temporary Plate, it had a certain number of characters that had no format whatsoever and would be completely different from the next one you would see...

You got that right ! :jokingly: They used to be cool, now they just don't rule !! One of the first states to not separate the letters and numbers... ABC1234 kind of looks dumb... Just like Hereisyournewarizonaregistration. And those crappy cheap stickers that change black and white areas in a whopping 4 yes that's right FOUR Combinations !! And say either AZ - N or AZ - Y at the top to tell the coppers (PUN INTENDED) whether or not you need an emissions test or not ! :D

I'll be honest, this is what I think of when a state has about three million different formats for each incredibly niche thing (eg <university> junior hockey team of 1979). =)

I just discovered that WKA8CEA was NOT my first Arizona Keyboard spam™️ plate. It was actually P2A1B7A, which was spotted on 2/12/2021! I thought it was an SC temp tag, but it was from Arizona! It's apparently driven to Florida, but still! I just decided to try the temp tag in Carfax because it matched the "format".

I can actually upload it, too!

Yes it is ! Yeah I think that's how they invented this crap, Arizona Temporary Plates always had random formats and issuance... Is this the plate number they're getting ???

also adding on, in VA all we do start at ZZZ and go backwards, because back in the 90s when they started that, AAA was already taken by a vanity plate design. If you look close enough and also know enough, you can sorta figure out when a plate was issued. Like if you see TZY for example then it was probably issued in November or December 2021

AABattery (2022-01-25 12:39:28)

Exactly ! Not sure why they just didn't go to B instead :D Illinois went backwards on the 2001 Lincolnhead Plate as it's Last Format from ZZ9 9999 and Backwards ! Until the 2017 Plate came out and went from AA1 0001 and Forward ! And then at AG decided to do it AG 12345 instead lol

Yes if you see the plates daily you can guesstimate from what time they're from !

Yeah it's fun to play with the descrambler, but I don't really see that many Arizona plates here...
