Show and display is a specific list that the US government has, otherwise, these illegally imported vehicles typically have legal state titles, however, on a federal level, they are illegal and can be seized and crushed at any time (however this is rare). https://www.nhtsa.gov/document/vehicles-determined-eligible-importation-show-or-display-0

Great question haha, sometimes people insure these as Nissan 240s, assuming you can find a vin that is clear, it's all shady and I don't fully know how it works

That makes sense, doesn't seem worth the risk of getting your car crushed. S15s aren't cheap
