No extra tax on old cars in the US? It's been around for almost 30 years. Commercial vehicles rarely survive that long in developed countries.

Not to my knowledge. I have never heard of this tax. Are old vehicles taxed more in Ukraine? I hope not, I would like to own one of these trucks soon, the flatbed version. I can use it to transport my other cars =)

No, but in Europe it is a common practice. Supposedly to protect the environment, but in reality - to increase sales of new cars :D
It's strange that they didn't think of this in the US :D

In Texas, classic vehicle plates are optional and don't cost anything extra or offer any benefits, as far as I know. Antique vehicle plates are also an option, and they are actually 1/5 the price of normal registration. With the Antique plates you are supposed to only be driving to and from events or a mechanic, but it is not enforced at all.

In Texas

thanks for info. In Europe, older commercial vehicles pay more for the autobahn. And entry of cars older than 2000 (below the Euro-3 standard) is completely prohibited. For private cars each country has its own laws. In Germany, for example, the older is the car, the more tax you pay per 1 cm3.
