This is one of the worst-looking Miata’s I have ever seen. It doesn’t help that the driver likes to camp in the left lane.

The left lane is for passing only. It’s crazy how few people know this.

since when ? i'm pretty sure it's legal to overtake on the right in the US so i don't see the problem with staying in the left lane

Most states require the left lane to be for passing only.

I drove from Maine to New Jersey and i can tell those rules aren't respected at all and police don't seem to bother :D

Right, it’s a problem here. And it’s definitely a little odd to admit that you’re part of that problem. Bottom line: laws explicitly state that the left lane is for passing only, whether you like it or not.

And if you search on internet in French what is the rule you will find « it’s legal to overtake on the right », I don’t think I’m part of the problem :)

We are not talking about France. We are talking about the United States, where this photo was taken. American laws on the passing lane was the discussion, not whataboutism or referring to France's laws. Totally irrelevant.

Slowest traffic should be in the farthest right lane, then passing traffic should be in the next lane and should move back over when finished passing. You can pass people on the right but that doesn’t mean you should sit in the left lane all the time because that creates problems.

Exactly. Well said. These are the explicitly-written laws in North America, the subject of the conversation. It doesn't matter what's legal in France.

Exactly. I've noticed it's especially bad on highways with only two lanes. Drivers who think they are being safer by going slower in the left lane are actually causing more danger in my eyes. They end up holding up traffic and could end up causing road rage. Here in SC, they're claiming they're going to enforce this law somewhat harshly, but I haven't really seen them doing that.

It's hard to overtake from the right if 2 slow drivers are "camping" side by side...

It doesn't matter what your weird internet search says. Explicitly written laws in the US > your internet search. I hope this helps. :tired:

Yes. You said in your experience, police and drivers didn't care. But that doesn't matter, because the rules are explicitly written and codified.
