Where do you normally keep the front plate? =)

It stays in the trunk lol. Texas has front plates, but police don't care if you use them or not. In over 5 years of driving in Texas, no one in my family has gotten a ticket for no front plate (been stopped and ticketed for multiple other things, but even when stopped for something else, they never even mention it).

It's not really worth it for them to ticket you for it. Tickets for vehicle equipment are "Fix-it" tickets, which means you can remedy the defect and have an officer inspect it and sign off on the ticket. So basically, if I do get a ticket for no front plate, I can just zip-tie it to the grille, go to the courthouse, and have someone inspect it, and then I can get it tossed for a $10 fee.

In Russia, you can be stripped of your driver's license for such a thing.)))))

In Texas you can't lose your license for equipment violations, only moving violations like speeding, reckless driving, etc. But even in these cases, you need to have 4 tickets in 12 months. However, you can get 2 tickets per year expunged from your record, so in reality its more like 6 tickets in 12 months. In addition to this a lot of places have policies that allow for warnings, for example, Fort Worth police have a 2 warning policy, so that brings it up to 8 total offences in 12 months. As a result, you basically only lose your license if you drive drunk (even then, it's usually a temporary suspension for like 90 days or so for a first offense).

very interesting))) How does the Texas police react to cars with tinted front windows? (In Russia, this can result in up to 15 days of arrest)

It depends on the city/county, but it would either be a "Fix-it" ticket (remove the tint and ticket gets thrown out for a small fee), or it could be a fine up to ~$300. However, Texas does allow for medical exemptions, so if you want front window tint you can just go to the eye doctor, say that the sun makes your eyes sore, and they will give you a note that allows you to tint the front windshield (when you get pulled over you show the officer the note).

Thank you for your response, it was interesting to read)
