Sure, here you go
Is it the same standard?
Judging from the looks of it, I guess it is the same standard
turtle-bienhoa Oh dear. It is actually still valid, but I ignore it. The number on the top row is the provincial code, the bottom row, I know zilch.
Well, the 3 numbers on the left is random numbers, and the word and number on the left is where it was registered like what you seen on motorcycles license plate. Example: 29-K1000.09 and 29999K1

Let me simplify this: Top code is regional code, three numbers on the bottom left is random numbers and the bottom right is where the vehicle is registered (For example K3 in my picture is Long Biên District, Hanoi)
Uh the comment is bugged. So I didn't expect many 32 plates like this, probably because I focused on cars more than motorbikes. Also welcome to Hanoi! How is your trip going?

Thank you! We arrived in the evening, checked into a hotel, and went for a walk towards the old quarter and the lake. Tomorrow morning itinerary for sightseeing. The day after tomorrow we planned an excursion to Ha Long, but we don’t know whether it’s worth going in this weather. +18C is not cold for us, but we thought it would be a few degrees warmer and sunny. Then we fly to Danang.

Glad to hear that, Hanoi is very beautiful although around these days it's foggy and humid. You won't regret visiting Hạ Long, the view there is breathtaking! I hope you will have a good time in Vietnam and capture a lot of unique vehicles here!

Remind me the name of the street that you recommended visiting, where there are a lot of interesting cars. I can't find this correspondence.

It's Ngô Quyền Street, right next to the Metropole Hotel. Also it's the 30H-904.09 photo if I remember correctly.

1700 meters from us)
Nice, usually they would show up there on both weekdays and weekends but chances for rarer cars to appear would be higher on weekends so I recommend going there on Friday-Sunday.

1700 meters from us) Walked 17,000 steps today
That's actually impressive, I only walked an average 2000-3000 steps a day. When I go snapping cars photos, I travel around using bicycle.
turtle-bienhoa I spot using my electric motorbike, that’s why all my spots often face the back. Sometimes, I will walk though, like my early days of carspotting.
I thought you were using a 50cc motorbike since in some picture the car reflects your bike. Hanoi is too big so walk around would take hours and I'm not old enough to ride a 50cc motorbike so I used a bike to travel around although a big drawback is that it's really tired cycling 20-30 Kms every weekends and you can't explore the suburbs of Hanoi on the other side of Red River (you need to cross a bridge and almost every bridges that cross Red River ban bikes). At least riding a bike gives me the opportunity to spot the car's front since I don't like taking photos from the back. My father plans to buy me a 50cc motorbike once I passed the exams in June (with flying colors of course) so I'm expecting more photos from undiscovered area.
I ride a Vinfast Impes (60-MÐ1 011.61) to take my pictures. The upside is that I can ride it legally and serves my purpose well, the downside is that it only lasts 50km and has a tracker natively installed.

So that explains why some of your VinFasts photos were taken inside a VinFast service station. I used to like the Impes when it was released a few years ago but my dad advise me to use a 50cc bike since he pointed out the small range of the bike (I like to travel around to different areas so he said getting a 50cc bike would get me a longer range) and the risk of riding it since the electric scooter's launch is really quick. I mean the tracker would help in case your bike got stolen but I guess someone could track you with it?
The bike's nice enough, except for the range and tracking. I mean, the bike was never meant for long-distance travelling anyway; we have the Feliz, Klara, Evo200, Vento and Theon for that.
Actually, has anyone here captured a Vento or Theon yet? I haven't.
turtle-bienhoa BTW, if mmm73 is still in Hà Nội, look out for a Škoda Karoq or Kodiaq. No, I'm not kidding, see my comments at nomer24076073.
Unfortunately, he's in Đà Nẵng now but I actually know the location of a Skoda dealership in Hanoi. The bad new? It's 15 Kms away from my house + Skodas aren't really popular in Vietnam. I will try my best to capture one though. Or mmm73 could have captured a Skoda while he's in Hanoi.
They are kinda new, having just arrived in September last year. Despite being cheap, Vietnamese people have been too familiar to Japanese and Korean brands like Toyota, Hyundai so Skodas don't sell much here. The only time I seen a Skoda was a few months ago, a Skoda Octavia belongs to the ambassador of Czech Republic in Vietnam.
justanormalguy mmm73 I have never seen a Skoda in Vietnam.

I photographed 7 ambassadors in Hanoi, two of them riding VinFast.

Seems like VinFasts are really popular in Vietnam, not only to civilians and the government but foreign countries too. Probably one of the VinFast you photographed belongs to Austria with 001 code since they are the first country to use VinFast as ambassador's vehicle.

Yes, one of them is the Ambassador of Austria VinFast LUX2.0 80-001-NG-01 and Ambassador of the Dominican Republic VinFast VF9 80-809-NG-01

Like I have expected, I heard the Netherlands also have a VF8 as one of their diplomatic vehicles.
turtle-bienhoa I've yet to see a Vinfast diplomatic car.
Diplomatic cars usually appear in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City so look out for them there. Besides I think countries would like to use their own car brands as their diplomatic cars so the chances of meeting a diplomatic VinFast is kinda low.

Most of the diplomatic plates are in Hanoi. There are much fewer of them in Ho Chi Minh City, but there are more NN plates of foreign citizens. In Da Nang I saw one NG - Japan and one NN - South Korea

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, so it makes sense. There're some consulates in Ho Chi Minh City so there must be some plus it's the biggest city in Vietnam so it makes sense why there're a lot of foreigners live there. There're also some consulates in Da Nang but a lot less than Ho Chi Minh City.
