If we had a spotter from Gänserndorf, maybe they would've been spotted once :D

Because I think we have more Hungary based spotters than Austrian based spotters. And people from Eastern parts of Austria love to go cheap shopping or get a cheap haircut in Hungary

  !;)

I see.

But can people from eastern Austria speak Hungarian or people from western Hungary speak German?

I think, there are not many Austrians, who can speak Hungarian - maybe if you have family in Hungary or live really close to the boarder you might be able to speak a few words.
On the other hand, many Hungarians speak German very well, especially if they are working in Austria.

In 1920 Hungary lost Burgenland (Őrvidék), but the Hungarian population were not so big (only 2,5% today), after Hungary joined to the EU some guest workers commute to Austria. People in West Hungary Vas county, Zala county (my home), Győr-Moson-Sopron county used to speak German. (I also choose the German for first language in the elementary school).
