To everyone who just wanted to look at the plate and read the comments out of curiosity, I am sorry.
No need to be sorry, death is a natural thing that occurs throughout our lives. It's sad to see loved ones go, but we all should celebrate their lives, and the memories that were created with them, and it's absolutely OK to share those precious memories if you wish to.
Both my great grandparents passed away in late 2019/early 2020 respectively, mere months between each other, which was hard to take in, despite not really seeing them too much (living 400km away doesn't help). But of the very few times I did get to see them, I remember the memories of my great grandad talking about his military history to me, talking about the time he was stationed as a British soldier in Hamburg in the 1950's. It's one of the reasons why I went to visit Hamburg a few years ago, somewhat carrying on that legacy perhaps.
On a plate-related note: Congrats on your early Xmas present I've got a pair of Irish plates in my collection, taken off a FIAT Multipla which I saw at a local scrapyard many years ago. 05-D-21439 is the reg for those interested. I've not got any other Irish plates since though, I really should try collecting all the counties/codes

I'm trying to get all the Irish counties, I have D, MH, MO, SO, G, and T. I still have a lot more until I have the full set. This one is from a blue 2008 Mazda 6 and I managed to find a picture of the plate from Tipperary. 151-T-3916 from a red Qashqai. I found a picture just by typing the number into Google search!
