I hate to break it to you but I think this one is a "without vehicle" since the car is too big for a "5" class, and transfer of plates to other cars is strictly forbidden (rematriculation of plates to the same car is allowed).

Is there a reason why the 9th Gen (My upload) wouldn't get a 5 class and the 10th Gen does (this upload) or would the 10th Gen also get a "license plate without vehicle"?

Sorry for the late reply! As Emacity more or less broke it down to you, the 9th gen would not have had a "5" number on the basis that all engines offered were 2 liter or above, and even if there were smaller engines (and were smaller in size), it would have only had two digit class codes issued on them for a year, as 1998 was around the time the three digit codes were gradually being introduced.
