Yesterday, 20th of April 2025, 2 minutes after I took a picture of this car I got stopped and harassed by a security guard with a green vest. It was a ukrainian female which I assume was 50-55 years old. She asked me what I was "searching for" so I simply replied that I was just walking there, she told that it's not a "walking zone" and asked if our car was parked here, I replied that indeed our car was parked on -1 floor (the shopping mall is called Galerie Harfa and it has 2 parking lot floors). Then she told me to go up to the -1 floor to which I replied that I simply don't want to and I'm allowed to walk here because it's a public parking lot. I then told that it's my hobby to walk in the parking lots and take pictures of cars to which she replied "you're not allowed to take pictures of the cars" and she also didn't understand the word hobby. After that I got so mad that I told her that by Czech laws I'm allowed to take pictures and film anything in the public places. I then started to record her and I have a 2 minutes and 39 second footage of her being mad at me for no reason. She also threatened that she will slam my phone from my hands (she used the Russian word "выбью"). Also I've read the whole shopping mall policy and found nothing about not being allowed to film anything even though I wasn't even filming but just taking pictures.I was also speaking Czech the whole time because I didn't want her to speak ukrainian to me since I don't really understand it. This whole situation was very disgusting and that is the first time that I encountered something like that in my 1 year of plate spotting. Also even though I'm underage, this whole situation will not stop me going to this same shopping mall parking lot.

Happened to most of us :D I dont like spotting in shopping malls that much because there are too many people and air is quite bad.

Security can assess that you're taking pictures of cars, which you then rob.

Hahaha pretty funny that I've been coming to this parking lot for a year and nothing has ever happened

Yeah me too... I tried capturing ambulances in a major hospital in my area; they forced me to delete all photos and threatened to take me to police. In other minor hospitals, I didn't face this.

I think that almost every one of us has experienced this situation at least once in spotting life. On the other hand, you have to understand security guards, because they don't know why you're taking those photos ;). Most people dont know what carspotting is.....

That car might get stolen and they' will be security gu,why he didn't intervene when he saw them taking the photos and he can get fired

Thats why I try to take photos of at least slightly more exclusive cars (that theres a chance that the other people tend to take photos) of, or I just use footage from my dashcam :)

Very weird. Why would they threaten you. Also you're allowed to take pictures of the emergency vehicles. Also if they threaten to call the police always say that they can call it

I told that security fat pig that I was taking pictures of cars and that's my hobby. I also don't look like I would rob someone because I'm 16

I have also got spotted on taking pictures and forced by security guards. Fortunately it ended without serious consequences, they gave me a warning not to do that again. But unfortunately, all photos I made has been deleted.
So, the conclusion is next: then you're doing carspotting, think twice where you're in before the decision of making a photo!

A guard once told me it's not allowed to take photos (he didn't bother enough to get it deleted) when I took a photo of a bird inside the building =) I've spotted many cars in the garage of the same mall, but never seen a guard there.
