Tuscaloosa is the first county to flip to this format (63A9 -> 63AA) that didn't already start with it (as some counties did).

I heard from AlabamaPlateSpotter that all counties are jumping to 0CXXXXX/00CXXXX. I’ve already seen some C series plates from Lauderdale, Morgan, and Shelby Counties.

Yes! I started realizing this. I verified Jefferson county has done this as well. 1A18xxx -> 1C000BY

I have not noticed this on standard plates yet but i’ve seen 63A9s that were fairly high, my guess is that 63A9YYY would be followed by 63C0001

You may be right, I looked into this also. My initial comment may be inaccurate because since it neglects that the truck base could be using different formats from passenger. But the 1C000xx I verified for Jefferson county are also trucks.

I saw 11C00P8 truck 3 months before I finally saw 11C03A8 yesterday, AL may be in the process of slimming down the amount of formats we use because all of the 2 alpha counties (47, 58, 59) are only 1 alpha with these C plates

Yep, that makes sense specifically what I saw for 47. These Alabama plates are so much of a rabbit hole that I know exactly what you mean by '2 alpha counties', but it gets way too lengthy to explain to anyone who's not been actively following them. Especially trying to explain that the A123B format progressed at much quicker rate and uses different letters in those counties.... I hope the state just decided to start over at C- issuing them in a more logical way.

The Cs progress like the smaller As, the reason they progressed faster is because they progressed like 58A100A, 58A101A vs 58A001A, 58A001B, most of the 2 alpha counties started at 100 instead of 001 for those, a notable exception to this is 58 or Shelby

Yeah, It's just that I tried to explain this to people in ALPCA and I think I completely lost them.
I don't know if you submit on The High Road for Alabama anymore but it could use an update of these changes. I tried my best to do an accurate update per my own sightings last time I was there, since very few there are keeping track.

I’ll submit some today when I have the time, the only problem is trying to find accurate highs
