Actually, I don't think this is too uncommon, at least for higher-spec'd cars here in Germany. There are quite a number of German cars in Germany that were imported from Japan (like high-spec Mercedes', Alpina BMWs and others), since these cars are often sold LHD in Japan and are often exceptionally well-kept and with low mileage. I can imagine this has also been treated very well in Japan.
