Apparently, 05-series plates are used specifically for 'Technical Inspection' and 'Recognised Motoring Organisations' (presumably the latter being maybe TÜV or ADAC?), but the plates work the same as the '06'-series trade plates.

The 05 series has been introduced in 2012 for technical organizations to carry out safety inspections, very rare and very illegal to be used like this.
