Moritz Velten Why are there 3 different companies that manufactues the TX4?
Englon, LTI and London Taxi Company
In 1992 Carbodies was rebranded London Taxis International (LTI) , And in 1997, a new model of taxicab, the TX1 was introduced as a successor to the old FX4. Further development resulted in the launch in 2002 of the TXII. And in 2007 the TXII was replaced by the TX4. In October 2010 the London Taxis International was rebranded as The London Taxi Company (LTC) . A joint venture with Chinese car maker Geely, who already held a 20% interest in the company through its Manganese Bronze shareholding, was formed to build a factory in Shanghai to manufacture London taxis for the export market and to supply components to the home factory in Coventry. So there are three types of TX4s that have been made. First is the TX4 of LTI, the second one is manufactured by the joint venture LTC after 2010. And the last one It's sold by Geely in China under the name Englon (Ying lun).

In 2010, Geely, which at that time holds 20% of shares in LTI (London Taxis International), agreed to purchase LTI's principal assets and trade from the administrator to save the business and continue production. The new holding company was named The London Taxi Corporation, and it traded as LTC (London Taxi Company) and changed its name to LEVC (London EV Company) in 2017.
Englon (which was renamed from SLTI in 2010) was established so that LTI's models can be sold in China (as all foreign car brands exist as joint adventures in CN, such as SAIC-Volkswagen). The name Englon technically come from "England" + "London".
