License plate of the Czech Republic, Cars (1960)

Believe it or not, I haven't seen a singe classic rear-engined Skoda during my time in the Czech Republic, but at least I saw another survivor from the old times.

Yeah, what my generation calls "classic cars" (most pre-millenium cars) practically disappeared in early 2010's. Before, it was pretty common to just go down a street and see 5 Favorits, 10 Felicias, 3 120s, and a few Russian cars too. But around 2010 there was a car boom that nobody officially acknowledged I think, and these old cars were being sold for a bottle of good booze or just sent straight to the scrapyard. Whoever's selling them these days for that kind of money either doesn't know what he's sitting on, or is hiding some serious underlying issue with the car (biggest one being of course the corrosion). Larger dealers aren't shy to ask 4000 € for one though, if they even have one for sale.

Though running these cars does get pretty expensive these days, they aren't very fuel efficient by today's standards. A naturally aspirated 3-cyl 1.0 MPI with the same power output will ask for way less fuel and will actually get to highway speeds pretty easily. Though the overall felling just isn't the same...
