Skoda Superb

2nd gen Sedan/Liftback (B6/3T4), 2008–2013

German license plate, Regular plates

PP district (Poprad) - Slovakia
To this plate, I have interesting and sad story, that as I photographed it, some woman starts yelling at me, why I take photos of plates, and she will call the police and take photo on my face and post it on facebook, so I decided to tell her it was just bet with my friend, who find more plates from abroad, she calm down, but not at all, and tell me to delete all photos and don't do that anymore :( #UnfriendlyDriver

She has no right to tell you to delete anything if its not on private property, I would laugh at her.. typical Karen

You should've taken a photo of her and said you are just taking pictures of ugly things

Sound like a snitch, this why we have been should carefully when we do spotting because an idiot like this Karen cause unnecessary problem, they should leave us an alone. BTW I hope you are alright from the incident.

This is also why I severely limit my photos of private, civilian everyday passenger cars - I prefer to shoot them only by the motorway, in opposite lane or from behind in the nearside lanes. Even if car owners get upset, they're very unlikely to suddenly slam the brakes on the motorway and cross several lanes to get to you, and even if they should do, there's plenty of time to vanish before they reach you.

With trucks, buses, exotic- and vintage cars it feels more... legitimate and easier to explain if somebody starts going ballistic.

Even on parking lots I don't really like to take photos, cause you never know if somebody in a car or nearby house spots you and throws a tantrum.

I've had only once a bus driver slam brakes and come out to yell at me DELET THIS. I was a pussy so I did, though I should have run, his lard ass would have never caught me. He was a known hot head at the garage, he hated people taking pictures of the bus he was driving.

Aside from that, I've never had any problems taking pictures of vehicles, stationary or moving. Sometimes passerbys look at me weird but that's it. I'm very cautious and always check if there's any passangers in the car, anyone incoming or any curious grandmas looking out their windows. I'm like a spy.

It is a crime to post people on the Internet without their consent. And the plates are in a public place and are not private property.

Unluckily this is a hobby which is hardly understood by people. You could meet everybody out there, sometimes you meet very kind owners, sometimes you don't.
We just need to be careful with certain guys...

Thanks for the support guys :drink: After some time and thinking about whole situation, I consider to not photograph so frequently and do it more carefully, because especially city, where I live is like a bigger village, everyone knows everyone, and also like this woman, everyone just tell "do you know who am I!?", and I don't want to get to shame and annoyng situations me or my family. Also I don't want to explain this hobby to police, because, at all it's legal, but explaining consumpts time... This was first experience with passerby, because, when I ask, if one of cars is her, she answers no. But I hope last, at least bad. And it's quite unusual hobby, I think, because almost every of my friends just think, it's illegal, or say they would be angry, when someone take photo and upload their cars on the Internet. Family doesn't know about my hobby. People there are not understanding and friendly at all, and are glad to care about others, newerthless they have their own and bigger problems, than some guy who take photos of unknown and foreign cars at day.

Probably not, because, she said to delete photos and don't do that anymore, I said ok, and walk away. She doesn't have phone in her hands.

Okay !
She wanted just to scare you! She was probably thinking you were like a robber or something

Personally when I spots vehicles I'm doing like I was doing something else, for example, in parking, I do like I was searching my car x)

The same situation happened to me. I was taking pictures at a parking next to block of flats and a guy saw me and started asking: "Why are u taking picture of this car?" i awnserd: "Because i like to do it and i have a collection on my pc". He didn't believe so he started to yell at me, that i should go away from here and he will took a picture of me. As i am shy and just scared of people that i don't know i argued with him and that left a mark on me and that's why many photos on my profile are now from car spots and etc. cuz i'm just scared to take photos on some neighborhoods and i just can't make me took photos of normal cars again because of it. I'm sorry of u and i feel the same at that situation :(

Always be careful with these kind of people. They often don't understand why we take pictures of their cars or trucks. They get angry and aggressive, especially when people are drunk.

Sometimes truck drivers look at me why I take pictures. I look at them friendly and then I walk away without looking at them too much. When they are out of their truck I don't take a picture, because they can be drunk on weekends.

So keep calm and try to explain why you are taking pictures is all you can do...

Keep spotting! !;)

Tell them numberplates aren’t hidden on the road, therefore they are designed to be open to the public

Your photos, Your camera, don’t let knowledgeless people come in between you and your hobby. :bravo:

I've had that issue on September 26, 2022. Even almost similar one happened in the end of March (on March 30, 2024) as well. Those drivers are really not know about photography law, honestly... But not all were bad anyway. On June 15, 2023, I saw a Mercedes LK Truck Motorhome and 5 Motorbikes parked around Nar Otel in Çerkeş/Çankırı. I saw the owner and I asked if I can take pictures of it. He was very nice and friendly to allow me to do it. But I had a weird story on October 23, 2023.

Back in October 23, 2023, me and my dad went to outside for my plate spotting hobby. While we passing by the Çerkeş Sanayi Sitesi, I saw a MAN TGS parked and I didn't knew the driver was nearby. Then the driver noticed me taking pic of his truck and asked me why I do this. After I tell him that I love trucks, he was very pleased about and explained about it more. Then the driver was shown the inside of his truck for me and my dad. That driver is very kind and friendly if you ask me.

This here's the truck I mentioned:
