Toller Fund! Erstes KFZ-Kennzeichen in der Region! Das ist natürlich eine Übertragung (und wahrscheinlich wiederholte), aber es stimmt zu 100 %, dass mit Beginn der aktuellen deutschen Kennzeichennorm Anfang Juli 1956 genau das gleiche Kennzeichen (allerdings in DIN-Ausführung) ausgegeben wurde (in den allermeisten Regionen die Ausgabe begann mit der Kennzeichengruppe a), die wie A1 -Z999 aussieht und zu der dieses Kennzeichen gehört).
Es ist wahr, es ist rätselhaft, wie ein solches Kennzeichen auf einem so mittelmäßigen Auto landen konnte.

Великолепная находка! Первый номер региона! Это,конечно, неизвестно какой по счёту перевес, но это 100% точно такой номер (только в DIN исполнении) был выдан на старте действующего стандарта номеров ФРГ
в начале июля 1956 года. В абсолютном числе регионов выдача началась с группы номеров а) в виде А1-Z999, к которой и принадлежит данный номер.
Правда, вызывает недоумение, как такой номер мог оказаться на таком посредственном авто...

In Germany you really don't have to be rich to get a licence plate like this. The extra fee for a personalized registration number is 12,80€ even for an A1 plate. There are no sales or auctions for special registration numbers like there are in Switzerland.
However I won't deny that you will definitely need a lot of luck and good connections to the right people in the registration office (or both) to actually get an A1 plate.

The registration office in my home district for example is notoriously strict. Even getting a registration number for a normal car (no US-Import, no motocycle) with less then seven characters is absolutely difficult here.

This also reminds me that I have never actually seen the A1 plate of my home district in the over thirty years I have lived here.

NOM-A1 ist bis heute noch in DIN-Ausführung, und wird es hoffentlich noch lange bleiben
NOM-AA1 poste ich dann als 10.000es NOM-Kennzeichen

I know of a registration office where the employees sold short combinations privately. They were all fired though since then, you can't get a good combination in Hanover anymore even if you work there yourself. Every plate that is (I think) H + 4 characters or less has to be approved by someone higher up, if I remember correctly.
