Yes, but never on a spotting trip. Last time I was there, I caught some plates though, but no US cars.

I have actually visited Kaiserslautern on many occasions, just not for a spotting trip. I lived around an hour from there until I was 19 and a good friend went to school there, so I mainly went there weekend evenings to eat in an American Diner or go to the Club.

I intend to go to Kaiserslautern to spot US specs for the database here. There's just one problem... I'm 15 and I live in Bavaria
But... Maybe i am visiting stuttgart-vaihingen this year again to catch some, There's also a huge base. I really can recommend that. Last year I stood there for an hour and had about 200 spots. But I got caught so.. 
Anyway KL is different level but I really try to go there, I just dont know how
