Sadly not, I only managed about 800. I would say I saw about another 100 or so I saw but just couldn't get a photo of due to bad angles or too many people / other trucks in the way, and the other ~200 I'm not sure, I guess I just missed them in the chaos!

Interesting! 800 photos is also a lot and I am sure you saw the ones with the most interesting Plates!
Agreed, yesterday I saw British Columbia on an Overland vehicle in a local town here, my first BC spot outside of USA but I couldn't get the photo because it was driving towards me. A week ago on the same road in traffic I saw NSW from Australia! Also no photo... Wish I hadn't seen either of them in way! But both very cool to see...

That’s so sad that you missed those! I have also seen some interesting plates without being able to take a picture. Most interesting were: Faroe Islands on the Slovenian Highway (2013) South Korea in Vienna (2016) China on the A4, Italy (1 month ago) Faroe Islands in Venice (last week) A Ferrari Convoi which ZAN later spotted with Plates from New Zealand, Japan, UAE… in Mestre (last week)
Exige_240R Missed spots like those hurt don't they... Going back over the years I've missed too many amazing spots to count
You are right, it is sad looking back on those. As a plate spotter there will always be interesting Plates which are missed, but we should lay our focus on the Plates that we actually spotted and not what we could have had
Especially those which were an amazing find! I've never run for a plate spot before, when I saw my first (and still only) car from China I actually ran to get ahead of it It was dark and the photo wasn't great, but I still treasure it as one of my most successful spots!

That’s a really cool spot, congrats! I have had a similar experience when I was in Slovenia. In Ljubljana there was randomly a car from Israel in front of me, so I followed it for a bit and jumped out of my car at a red light to take a front picture. The driver was very irritated, but it was worth it!
Oh wow, I have anxiety too badly to do that I prefer spotting from a distance when possible, but the Chinese driver did see me and laughed, I think they realised what happened!

Of course spotters have anxiety in such situations, but sometimes it is really beneficial to just ignore that and approach an interesting Plate. You never know, the owner might be really friendly. For example, two days ago I spoke with the owners of an Estonian Plate for 30 minutes after they saw me take a picture of their Car, they were the most friendly people I ever met
If I'm having a good day I will talk to the owners which might lead to photos but on a bad day I can't even face talking to strangers (or on really bad days, even people I know)
