Hmmm, something really weird going on here, and I can't figure it out. The plate is clearly fake, but the whole history is quite messy:

02/04/2007 registered on YN36890
27/08/2008 retired
27/08/2008 registered on TOMS (vanity plates)
13/03/2009 registered on YN36890
10/09//2009 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
16/06/2010 registered on YN36890
08/09//2010 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
27/04/2011 registered on YN36890
27/04/2011 MOT, registration listed as TOMS (vanity plates)
26/09//2011 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
22/03/2012 registered on YN36890
07/08//2012 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
13/08/2012 registered on YN36890
06/09//2012 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
11/04/2013 MOT, registration listed as YN36890
18/04/2013 registered on INGES (vanity plates)
19/06//2013 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
20/06/2013 registered on INGES (vanity plates)
26/06//2013 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
28/06/2013 registered on INGES (vanity plates)
13/09/2013 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
08/05/2014 registered on YN36890
15/05/2014 "retired, plates transfered to other vehicle"
15/05/2014 registered on AT78863 (previous plate listed as TOMS (vanity))
04/07/2014 MOT, registration listed as YN36890
12/06/2015 MOT, registration listed as YN36890
12/06/2015 registered on AT78863
06/06/2017 MOT, registration listed as AT78863
28/01/2019 retired
09/05/2019 MOT, registration listed as AT78863
09/05/2019 registered on CJ53173

The vanity plate TOMS is currently listed as belonging to a 2008 VW Tiguan
The vanity plate INGES is currently listed as belonging to a 2009 Hyundai i20

Both vanity plates have been used on a ridiculous number of vehicles through the years (around 50 each!!!)

While vanity plates can be transfered (as clearly shown above), regular plates can NOT, so registration YN36890 must have ceased to exist in may 2014. Nevertheless, that number is still shown as late as the june 2015 MOT. This clearly doesn't make sense. Neither does the constant retirements and seemingly random registrations on one of the four numbers TOMS, INGES, YN36890 and AT78863.

What the car is doing in Montenegro on a fake set of long retired plates... I have no idea! It would be interesting to know when the photo was taken.

But this particular Astra still shows up as registered with a valid MOT, although current plates should be DR 47 977. And it used to be a rental
