license plates of Hungary, Cars (1990)

Budapest 4.

Took this car on a test drive (I knew the seller), and considered buying it since it was in good condition and drove just fine. However, I took it on a check-up just to be safe, and it turned out there were enough underlying issues that it wasn't worth buying...

Just because it is interesting, can you tell us what were those underlying issues? Rust? =)

Surprisingly not rust, it only had a small spot on the corner of the right sill. But all the brakes were faulty, the suspensions were also in ppor shape (due to the fact, the seller often drove on bad roads), and even the engine was running dry. :ups:
Despite all these issues, the only thing I noticed while driving was that the clutch pedal was slow to release. I hoped it's just a spring needing to be replaced, and not a problem with the master cylinder, but they didn't even get to look at it :D

Worn suspension and brakes are in my opinion acceptable, (and not that difficult to repair) in this age, if the price is reasonable. But a dry running engine....yeah that's definitely a no go! I totally understand your decision

I most likely wouldn't have taken it even with a fine engine, they made me a quote with all the brake system+suspension parts needing to be replaced, and it ended up being over 2x what the car was worth :D
Of course it's possible to fix only the necessary parts one by one, but I was better off spending that money on a car that doesn't need any inevitable repairs :)
