I really wish Hungarian plates had regional coding. Two years ago I read about proposals to do this. What ever happened to that?

Nothing, because they were only proposals.

Correct, as I have already written the main goal was earning money by the government int the middle of the financial crisis, but they rejected due to expected unpopularity.

It's better for us: we should not change our current plans. No need to create a new Hingarian gallery or modify current one urgently.

Diplomatic plates are not planned yet for any country.

Personalized plates are not planned yet, as well as plates for foreign residents.

And what will happen with the special Dutch plates? (Diplomatic/Foreign/Defense (Dutch and foreign)/Schengen/etc.) They all use the same sidecodes and fonts/backgrounds as other LPs, so you could even upload them without specifying the plate correctly.

No need for foreign resident plates as they are not issued anymore since 2009. And the existing ones are being replaced continuously.

Everything compatible with regular plates in all sidecodes, will be included in gallery. However, we should specify some special series (military, etc.) by particular letters in their sidecodes.
Diplomatic plates will be later, when we perform technical works goaled to extension of current galleries.
Anyway, Netherlandese gallery requires the same model for interface and database structure as American one.
P.S. As far as I know, export plates were abolished since the 1st of January, 2014. Plates in regular format, belonging to one of old sidecodes, are issued instead.
Now we have a two-week pause in our works. Then, we will add five US states and start works on the Netherlandese gallery. Technical task submitted.

Ok, altough it would be real easy to include CD plates for The Netherlands immediately, because they also use existing sidecodes. If you need help with including all the different plates (SC/RC/AF/CD/CT/Etc.) just send me a message.

And export plates are indeed abolished. Now they use the trailerplate of the car as exportplate, but there are two stickers on it as well.

CD plates require indexing by diplomatic missions. Code list is needed.

As far as I know there is no codelist for diplomatic missions in The Netherlands. The CD-plates aren't linked to a certain country or anything, they just give them out in order. (That means that the digits of the plate (like in Russia) aren't linked to a country. CD-10-77 could be Belgium, but CD-10-78 could be France for instance.)

And of course the RDW knows which certain plates belong to which countries, but that information isn't available for the public.

This thing simplifies our technical works: we will just define these LPs as diplomatic ones, without country coding.

One more good news for Hungarian spotters: Austrian gallery will be created earlier, after Slovak and Azerbaijani ones. We decided to swap Austrian and Portuguese galleries. All galleries are intermediated with five new US states.
