Hey sorry to be annoying, but as much as this is a real Japanese number plate, this plate does not unfortunately belong to this Honda. As in Japan when cars are exported and taken off the road and sent abroad they have to be legally acquired to get de-registred by the Gov in which a small bolt on the left side is stamped out like in this link to be proved that it has been SORN, but other than that, that is a cool Spot!! https://licenseplatemania.com/landenpaginas/japan.htm :drink:

Did it belong to a different car, or just deregistered?

Well I actually don't know if this plate belonged to this car as I don't think there is a website that can find the history of the car by the plate in Japan, but either way, if this plate was registered to the car the plate has been deregistered from it now
  !;)

If the number belonged to the car, it should have the model even if it has since been deregistered. Since there is no way to check it is assumed the number did belong since the class code matches the vehicle, unless it can be proven otherwise.
