Haha yes!! In all honesty, I enjoyed spotting these older Lux plates, as I've not managed to spot them in the wild before! :D However, despite being a 'remainer', I actually would prefer if countries in the EU didn't have the same boring style with the EU-specific 'Eurobands', and instead integrated unique elements which you can differentiate between each country's plate, like the use of flags, or coats of arms, something I'm glad Hungary has done with their new plates for example, plus actually creating their own font and not using FE-Schrift like every other damn country seems to be doing these days. Dare I say it?...European plates are often a bit boring if I'm honest.

Oh I totally agree! I'm also really glad with the new Hungarian plates, the coat of arms in the middle makes them look so much cooler than almost all other EU plates. Also I think the EU countries that still let their inhabitants decide if they want a euroband or not is a cool policy, cause the plates without euroband look pretty nice and classic as well I think. But wouldn't it be great if Europe got like a system like in the Americas, with cool pictures on the plate, and than different regions got all the different pictures, would be amazing that! Although unfortunately very unlikely it will ever happen... :(

These plates do look cool, but the only flaw is no region coding, because, for such a sized country, four letters and three numerals might require some sort of regional coding, because - in my opinion - unless it's a France or Italy-sized country, it can be very boring to wait longer periods of time for e.g. the first letter of the plate to change. In the previous system, waiting around two years for the initial plate letter was just fine.

Yet because of the "no vowel and consonant at start" rule, it can be shorter and thus easier to wait for a consonant to follow a vowel rather than vice versa, or if a consonant follows another consonant.

P.S. Europe does need another change of license plates like this in the near future.

I have a prediction that in about 20 years, we will give up going through all the B* series and start dividing them by counties :D

About the euroband: as far as I know, it's a mandatory official sign (replacing the old oval stickers), so if it's missing from a (newer) plate, it is always non-standard and technically illegal...

Using all the consonants - either 20 or 21 - can come in handy for the sake of having more combinations compared to just 5 for vowels.
