Most commonly I see plateless cars with either the frame still being visible, or in some cases, the plates on the windshields. However, I've seen a black older BMW (Serbian, ex. VL 002-RI) near Loznica but didn't spot it. Now it's plateless, awaiting a potential LO 109 or late into the 108 series (highest: 108-OE but 523-TX for taxis).

I see cases like that very often. And for new cars, like that E-Pace, when a person buys it, they should put PROBA (test) licence plates in order for the new owner to drive the car to another city but that's far less common in practice.. Those plates are so rare I don't even remember when's the last time I've seen one. Hope you will spot it when it gets fresh LO plates!

The last time I've seen a Serbian "proba" plate was some week ago, and it was from Šabac. To be honest, I've seen LO "proba" plates too and spotted kinda one.

Seeing that the highest is now LO 109-AC, it's definitely gonna be the 109 series for the black BMW. The original windshield sticker, displaying the Vlasotince plate, is still visible though.

Are LO proba plates common in LO? I have seen only one NI proba in NI. Most of them are either PK or ČA, sometimes BG.
Maybe the owner will remove the VL sticker once he gets LO plates. While Montenegro had windshield stickers some people used to collect them. My record was 7 in a row but I managed to photograph this one with 6. And sometimes I could see up to 3 stickers from various cities. Too bad they discontinued their use from 2015 as it was interesting to follow former registrations of one vehicle..

Not very much, but plateless cars and to some extent ŠA “proba”’s are more common than these. Here a proba plate is not common that much, but it can be a recurring sight.

Regarding windshield stickers I sometimes see cars with two stickers on the same corner, of which one of them is always valid. I guess poor drivers are too lazy to remove them. Cases have occurred when the invalid of these stickers comes from another region. This applies for vignettes as well, I think there were a few cases when an entire side of the windshield was full of them.

By the way, I think windshield stickers should be retired here in Serbia and registrations should be revalidated electronically.

For the black BMW, certainly that will happen. I actually cross next to this vehicle approximately once per week. Some guy must have driven this vehicle as some sort of import.

Black BMW update: after removal of the plates, it was likely brought for auto part harvest. Parts of the car are now missing.
