First Langkawi plate on the site.
The story behind this seemingly normal plate.
Langkawi is a duty-free island meaning registering your car with a Langkawi plate will make it exempt from duty charges. The annual road tax charges are also cheaper. Some supercar owners do this to avoid paying the high tax amount.
Now to avoid loopholes, the government only allows the Langkawi registered car outside of Langkawi no more than 90 days in a single calendar year.
Other methods similar to this are registering a Peninsular car with a Sabah/Sarawak road tax.
