1957 Bambino Sport

"Veghel once produced its own car brand. At the 38th RAI car show in 1957, the Bambino Sport was unveiled. It was made by N.V. Alweco from Veghel, owned by director Henk Albronda. It was a three-wheeler, also known as a microcar. It's believed that around sixty were made, plus one four-wheeler, the Bambino Sport. But the Veghel car didn't make it. Car production in Veghel ceased in 1958. The factory went bankrupt a year later, and the land on the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal became the property of the Cehave compound feed company. Alweco thus went out of business, but this 1957 Bambino Sport is still very much alive. The classic car is owned by collector Hans Bodewes from Uden and is on loan to the Noordkade. Hurkmans Autoschade in Veghel restored the vehicle to its current condition. A unique collector's item."
