Probably just too old to be in the system. Cars that have been removed from traffic before some time in the 80's don't show up in the database. I presume either the records of the car have been destroyed or Vegvesen just did not see it worthwhile to digitalize hundreds of thousands of vehicles that have not been on the road for decades.

I know that cars wrecked before 1990 tend to disappear from the register. But cars with a "living" registration should not disappear that way. In other words this kind of registration must be perfect if one should drive through a toll station or a speed control camera
