Nei, denne er spesiell! Men nå hører jeg det kommer mange nye formater på norske bilskilt i nær fremtid..

Guessing it's imported from USA? The exact age of the car makes me think of something I vaguely remember hearing long ago - that the age limit for reduced car taxatation in Norway and Sweden is 30 years... is this correct? This one seems to bee imported to Norway almost exactly when it turn 30 years old, so would be a perfect example.

In Denmark the limit is 35 years - well, you can register a car as "veteran" after 30 years, but this only reduces the frequency of inspections - in order to get tax reduction, it must be 35 years old.

This car being an Audi also reminds me of a news story some time ago, about danes importing 35 year old cars to register them as veterans, not because they're crazy about old cars, but simply because there are many really good quality cars of that age. The guy they talked to had just imported a 35 year old Audi 100 and he said the car was so advanced for its age, that it didn't feel like an oldtimer at all. I guess he had a good point there - older cars like Audi 90, Audi 100, Saab 900, the big Volvos, Mercedes E- and S-class and BMW 5-, 7- and 8-series probably offer more driving comfort and luxury than many modern cars... if well taken care of, of course.

It could be imported from USA; I haven't found any info on that.

Previously, the limit for duty-free imports was set at 30 years, and is the limit that is considered vintage cars when it comes to motor insurance tax and insurance. Whether these will also be reduced to 20 years is currently unknown.

Those who imported a car older than 20 years before 1 July 2019 received a deduction of 91 percent of the one-time tax, and then the percentage increased by 1 percent for every other year:

Over 22 years received a deduction of 92 percent
Over 24 years received a deduction of 93 percent
Over 26 years received a deduction of 94 percent
Over 28 years received a deduction of 95 percent

From 1 July 2019, the exemption for cars older than 20 years is 100 percent - ie no one-off fee.
