Another scrapping crime against car history. This was the very first Mazda model to be regularly imported into Europe and it seems this one was in Norway since new, so one of the very first pioneers.
Toyota led the "Nippon invasion" back in 1964 (Crown, Corona) with Datsun (Nissan) following closely behind. Once Mazda saw, that these brands were recieved well, they too joined the european party.
On some markets, the first model was this one, the Mazda 1500/1800, on other markets it was the slightly later Mazda 1000/1200/1300. In Denmark, it seems to have been somewhere in between: the Mazda 1500/1800 was first to get a mention in danish car annuals, but it was listed as not having an official importer yet, and no price had been set. When the 1000/1200/1300 came out, however, it did get an official launch here and shortly after the 1500/1800 was replaced by the new Mazda 616.
